The Ineffectiveness of the Glastonbury Housing Authority

The housing Authority has, in its possession, a large document that details all the rules and regulations for the communities it oversees, and yet the Authority ignores those very guidelines every day. The Authority uses the Sergeant Schultz approach of “we know nothing and we see nothing”. Everyday they ignore the breaking of so many rules and allow prolific drug dealing, residents allowing other people to move into their houses, residents running businesses from their houses, residents throwing loud, middle-of –the-night parties in, and around, their houses and residents having several cars parked all over their drive-ways, yards and streets (because of letting so many other people move in with them) just to name a few.

Every so often the Authority has community meetings to address resident’s “concerns” about the neighborhood. Slowly these meetings dwindled down to no participants because the police and housing authority director, in reality, do absolutely nothing to address those concerns. Of course, if they lived here things would be different. This place would be cleaned out so fast, but they don’t live here, so I can only conclude that they collect a paycheck and beyond that, don’t care about the illegal doings in their little communities.

The director sits tucked away in his office while drug dealers ply their trade on the streets and undocumented, unchecked people move into houses all over the place. Those of us who actually live here and went through the background check process don’t know who we’re living near on any given day. Sex offenders? Criminals? Fugitives? More drug dealers? Wild parties keep the few working residents up all night and drunks speed all over the streets where our children play.
